Why Is Lawn and Gardening Gift Shopping For Dads Hard?

I personally don't decide what gift is right, as there is no such thing as the “right” gift anymore than there is the perfect mate or the perfect home. Whenever I shop for my dad, I always get anxious and it’s easy to fall into the trap of “finding the perfect gift for dad”. Instead, there is a sea full of possibilities, some of which are out of the question; too expensive, too cheap, don't know size, might already have.

I usually find myself asking the following questions:

1. What is their personality type?

2. What are their hobbies in lawn caring?

3. What life choices have they made, or do they want to make in the future? (Don't they want to be a chef, then get them something to help them grow a herb garden)

4. Have they dropped any hints that I can remember they may have dropped about a certain item?

5. Do they already have one?

If you don't know the answer to some of them, that's okay. You can base your gift for them by one of the answers you may know. For example, I like to spend time working on my flower garden as a hobby, so anything that helps me or pulls me out into the garden more is a perfect gift for me.

Every dad needs a good shovel or rake, and there are plenty of great options out there. We tend to get in the mindset of what I have works fine and doesn’t need replacing. The truth is that most dads will appreciate an upgrade on a tool they use often. Have you ever not seen a dad that loves to work in the yard and uses their shovel or rank? Me neither. If your dad is just starting out in gardening, get him a basic tool set. If he’s been gardening for a while, maybe invest in a more sophisticated tool.

They have to be sharp enough to cut through anything thick, but fit comfortably in their hand. Every dad that always have time for lawn care absolutely hates weeds. Weeds in a yard can look like imperfections in what is a perfectly manicured lawn. There are plenty of handheld tools and longer tools that make picking weeds at the root easy on the lawn and on his back. Or, even better, treat him to a summer of weed control services so he doesn’t even have to worry about weeds this coming growing season or even in holiday season, so that you can have a enjoyable family bonding.
